Our Story

Grandchildren of esteemed community and fishing industry leader, the late Billy Smith, have Down East roots dating back to the 1700s. The restaurant is named after our late father, William Ellis Smith, when we had the original Wild Will's 25 years ago on nearby Harkers Island.

We are celebrating lots of things at Wild Will’s this weekend! The Wild Will’s Queen is back after a month of studying abroad, and we are happy!!! New friends, new places, Oxford University, London and Paris, and some college credits! We are also celebrating figs, Figgy old fashions, fig spritz, all made with homemade fig syrup and homemade figs foster! It's all so good. Mattamuskeet onions are wrapping up in the next few weeks, and they are delicious too. The Wild Will's prime rib, stuffed soft crabs, stuffed NC shrimp, and those jumbo lump crabcakes are on the menu tonight! We had a guest say this week, these are the best crab cakes I've ever eaten. I said I couldn't agree with you more!!! This weekend, fresh Jumbo lump crabmeat for crab cakes, when we get the chance to slip to the Cape or Old Drum Inlet we bring our crabmeat along, tuna from Etheridge Seafood in Wanchese, NC shrimp from Beaufort Inlet Seafood, so they could have been caught by any of our local shrimpers and Mattamuskeet onions, Wild Will’s prime rib, our famous stuffed crabs, and figs! When I say figs, this weekend it's Stacy figs. Can I tell you our bushes could be over 160 years old? That's how long our homeplace has been there. A sendoff Friday for Larrington, you never know where you’ll find her, in Raleigh politicking, in Core Sound mulleting, at Wild Will’s waitressing, or interning at a law office. We’ve got a busy week scheduled at Wild Will’s. First off, on Thursday night, June 25th, there's a book signing on the porch. Come have dinner, buy a book, and get it signed by Bill Lewis. We met last summer, and now he is a regular at Atlantic RV and Wild Will’s.

All the proceeds from this book will go towards the Old Burial Ground in Beaufort to help identify and mark graves that have not been identified or marked for over 200 years.
